Syria Rejects Reports of Planned Military Intervention in Lebanon
Al-Sharaa told a delegation from the Damascus countryside, as cited by state media, that claims about Syria entering Lebanon are “completely untrue.”
He also addressed the issue of border demarcation between the two countries, saying it is not an urgent priority at this stage. “This is not a priority at the present time, especially in light of the crises in Lebanon and internal displacement of around 1.5 million people,” he said.
Lebanon has continued to experience ongoing Israeli military operations since early March, which have reportedly resulted in thousands of deaths, widespread injuries, and large-scale displacement, according to available figures cited in reports.
The Syrian-Lebanese border stretches across mountainous and rural terrain, with no clearly marked dividing line in many areas. The two countries are connected by six official land crossings along a border of roughly 375 kilometers.
