During the call, the two leaders also reviewed bilateral economic ties, with particular attention to cooperation in the defense sector, as well as a range of regional and international issues.
Erdogan reaffirmed that Türkiye intends to keep pursuing measures that strengthen collaboration with Washington and deepen relations across all fields in ways that serve the shared interests of both nations.
He stressed that Ankara places strong importance on the complete implementation of the ceasefire and integration framework in neighboring Syria, noting that Türkiye is closely following developments in coordination with US and Syrian counterparts.
The Turkish president also voiced optimism that the Gaza “Board of Peace” would deliver meaningful outcomes. He underlined his view that bringing an end to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and launching reconstruction efforts would open the door to sustainable peace across the region.
Trump had announced the creation of the “Board of Peace” on Jan. 15 as part of a wider initiative related to Gaza, under which a ceasefire agreement was reached. The body was later formally authorized through UN Security Council Resolution 2803 in November 2025.
Since October 2023, Israeli military operations have resulted in the deaths of more than 71,600 people — the majority of them women and children — and left over 171,300 injured, devastating large parts of Gaza.
Even after the ceasefire took effect, Israeli attacks have continued, leading to the deaths of 484 Palestinians and injuries to 1,321 others, as stated by local health authorities in Gaza.
